Compare comprehensive, third-party property, and other car insurance options from Australian insurers using your vehicle and driver details.
We're building this comparison tool now. In the meantime, compare something else below.
What levels of car insurance can I compare?
Most Australians compare comprehensive cover, third-party property damage, and third-party fire and theft, alongside compulsory third party (CTP) requirements that vary by state. Match the cover type to how you use the vehicle and what you can afford to replace or repair out of pocket.
How is my premium estimated before I buy?
Insurers price using factors like age, driving history, vehicle, postcode, excess, and optional covers. A comparison tool shows indicative premiums for the details you enter; the final price is confirmed by the insurer after any additional questions and underwriting checks.
Does a cheaper policy mean worse cover?
Not always — two policies can price differently for the same headline cover because of underwriting appetite, discounts, or exclusions. Read the PDS for exclusions, limits, and optional benefits (for example hire car or choice of repairer) rather than relying on price alone.
What is an excess and how does it affect the premium?
An excess is the amount you pay toward an approved claim before the insurer pays the rest. Higher excesses usually lower the premium but increase your out-of-pocket cost if you claim. Choose an excess you could pay comfortably if something goes wrong.
Can I switch car insurers mid-term?
You can usually switch at renewal with the cleanest break. Mid-term switches may attract cancellation fees or refunds calculated pro-rata depending on the insurer. If you have an open claim, switching can be more complex — confirm with both insurers.
Is CTP the same as comprehensive insurance?
No. CTP covers injury liability to other people in a motor accident in line with your state scheme; it does not cover damage to your car or other people’s property. Comprehensive and third-party property policies address different risks — compare them as separate decisions where both apply.
