Private health premiums to rise 4.41% from April 2026

Private health premiums to rise 4.41% from April 2026

From 1 April 2026, private health insurers can increase premiums on average by 4.41% after federal approval. That figure is a weighted industry average — your fund may be higher or lower, so check the notice they must send you before renewal.

If your premium is jumping more than you can absorb, comparing hospital and extras cover, adjusting your excess, and confirming your Australian Government Rebate tier can all change what you pay out of pocket.
