Electricity standing offers remain high in 2026, with NSW rises above 8%

Electricity standing offers remain high in 2026, with NSW rises above 8%

Standing offers — sometimes called the default market offer (DMO) in parts of the National Electricity Market — are a safety-net price cap, not a reward for loyalty. When the Australian Energy Regulator resets the DMO, households who have not negotiated a market offer can see sharp annual changes.

NSW residential standing offers moved up roughly in the high single digits for 2025–26, while other regions saw smaller adjustments. That does not mean every bill will rise by the same percentage: usage, tariff structure, and solar feed-in all matter.

Comparing plans using your actual usage pattern (or a recent bill) remains the most practical way to see whether switching could help.
